Jewish Family Service of Greater New Haven Awarded $5,000 from LH Brenner Insurance through Safeco Insurance® Make More Happen Awards
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - LH Brenner Insurance has earned a 2018 Safeco Insurance® Make More Happen Award in recognition of its exceptional volunteerism and commitment to making positive change happen in the local community. The award includes a $5,000 donation that will go directly to the FOOD4KIDS program sponsored by the Jewish Family Service of Greater New Haven, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening community life by providing a wide range of social and human services to people in the community at every life stage."My team and I have worked with the FOOD4KIDS program for five years and we are incredibly thankful for being awarded the Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award so we can give back even more," said Richard Epstein, an independent agent for LH Brenner Insurance. "The team at the Jewish Family Service of Greater New Haven has had a significant impact on our community and these funds will help them continue to make a difference."
Beginning on Wednesday, March 28, LH Brenner Insurance and Jewish Family Service of Greater New Haven will have their story featured on the official Safeco Insurance® Facebook page (Facebook.com/SafecoInsurance) with a chance to raise an additional $5,000. If the story is shared from Safeco's social media sites at least 200 times on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn, the total donation for the nonprofit will double to $10,000.

"Safeco's Make More Happen Awards program helps to recognize the amazing work agents do in areas like New Haven and motivate others to do the same."
Safeco's Make More Happen Awards focus on nonprofits in the areas of health and safety, education and civil service. LH Brenner Insurance was selected for a Make More Happen Award based on a photo and application demonstrating its commitment to Jewish Family Service of Greater New Haven.
Epstein first got his team at LH Brenner involved with FOOD4KIDS when he and his wife were informed of the community's dire food need by their daughter, a local guidance counselor. After learning that one in every five New Haven schoolchildren is food insecure, they began volunteering to create bags of nutritious food for students to enjoy over the weekends while they are not receiving lunch at school.
Since LH Brenner has begun to help FOOD4KIDS, the program has been able to grow from providing only 35 bags at one school each week to nearly 300 bags distributed across three schools weekly. On average, providing the service to local children costs around $200 - but with a donation of $10,000, Epstein and the Jewish Family Service of New Haven will be able to greatly expand the program to include additional deserving children throughout New Haven Public Schools.
Throughout 2018, Safeco will select a total of 24 independent agents for awards and donate up to $240,000 to the nonprofits they support. The Make More Happen Awards are a part of Safeco Insurance's Agent Giving Program.
